We were there for troubleshooting of the cranes after undocking.

Most of the times after leaving dry docks still some jobs remain to do on the vessel. In this case due to time limitations in dry dock, we had to check some parameters.

The brakes were one of them.

We found some problems on the brakes. We had to troubleshoot the brake for luffing and hoisting winch.

For luffing winch the brake bands were worn out. Still we had to adjust the brake bands until they’ll change it.

Every brake has a pointer and scale. The pointer must always be within the limits of the scale. It means the pointer should be on the green area. Also the brake has a band balance indicator. This should be in the middle between the brake bands.
