Asia is one place that I really love. With the help of my job I reached Asia several times. My last adventure was in 2010 when I went to service some cranes in Malaysia.
Professionally speaking was a good experience for my career and for my own business which easily begins to take shape.
I went there for inspections and repairs of hydraulic machineries located on board of different vessels. I did inspections of the cranes and serviced other equipments like mooring and windlass winches.
The job was good, the cranes were in good condition some small adjustments I did.
Part 1 Part 2
Japanese deck cranes
I won’t forget one of my first experiences the Japanese crane called Tsuji.
And...look forward and click to see what happened with the Japanese.
Brake repair
I attended to a vessel in Singapore anchorage.
My scope of job was bizarre. In the office I got the paper with the things I’d to do. It was service on deck cranes.
Pretty easy you would say and it looks.
Anyway I got over these 'small details' and I said yes to that job.
Adjustments of brake
Another job I went through, where I did brake repair, it was in Dubai dry dock.
Click and check further how I adjusted the brake.
Hydraulic valve called counterbalance
From time to time I have attended vessels for commissioning of hydraulic equipments.
My last attempt it was in a dry dock where I commissioned mooring doors of a special vessel called Seismic Vessel.Continues
Proportional valves
A dry dock is the place where is it makes major repairs.
Mostly troubleshooting and small problems are made after the vessel is leaving dry docksbut in some cases like the following I was servicing the cranes complete.
Troubleshooting of anchor windlass winch
One of the worst scenarios is to travel by plane 6 hours night time in a bad airplane with small sits and lack of distance between sits. After I spent more than 10 hours in the airports finally I got to the destination.
I looked around, new airport, varied people, different procedure to get in. A driver was waiting for me; he had a board with my name on it. It was morning and the working day had just started.
Suddenly I realized that I am there for a job and I won’t get the chance to sleep soon. And the job was like that.
Troubleshooting of engine crane.
In 2008 near Christmas Eve, I attended to a vessel in anchorage for inspection and repair of an engine crane together with one of my collegues.

Hydraulic cylinder repair
Now my role is reversed. The other days I was on site doing repairs of electro hydraulic systems and now I am in the workshop repairing and testing a hydraulic cylinder.
But is temporarily, I am sure about it.
